After losing their first two Chinese Super League (CSL) games of the season, John Mikel Obi is confident that Tianjin TEDA will find their form soon.
Since the start of the 2017 CSL, Tianjin TEDA lost 2-0 defeat to Shandong Luneng in the opening day fixtures and were held at home by Jiangsu Suning to a goalless draw in matchday two.
The Mikel Obi captained side has failed to score in their two opening fixtures but the 29-year-old is confident the goals would come soon.
“It’s clear that it is complicated not to have scored after two games but I think the team is gradually on track,” Mikel told sports.enorth.com.cn.
“I believe we will translate the lessons in training to matchday when we resume which will bring the first goal but the fans must be patient.”
With just a point from their first two games of the season, Tianjin TEDA are 11th on the table and will face Chongqing Lifan in their next game on April 2.
In Tianjin TEDA’s 0-0 draw at home to Jiangsu Suning, Mikel Obi played in central defence and impressed, helping his side to get a clean sheet.
