You know that song ‘Despacito’? The Spanish-language earworm by Luis Fonsi feat. Daddy Yankee and that’s currently sitting at number one on the charts? It’s ok if you don’t — apparently Bieber doesn’t either.
In a recent live performance Bieber is shown singing along, alternating between saying “I don’t know the words so I say…” followed by pretty much anything that will rhyme. Burrito. Doritos. It’s all very avant garde.
After he tries to pass the buck to an audience member who waves him away, Bieber then gives up, and goes full gleeful gibberish (and no, we don’t mean the Selena Gomez track that he also featured on).
No one is saying that Bieber should be fluent in Spanish, a language that an estimated 437 million people around the world speak. But maybe if he took things slowly (which, incidentally is what ‘Despacito’ means), committing a few minutes worth of lyrics to memory, particularly ones that most likely added another wing to your mansion, shouldn’t be too big of an ask.
