The Kaduna State Government on Tuesday said it would collaborate with retired military officers to address the prevailing security challenges in the state.
Governor Mukhtar Yero said this when Retired Army, Navy and Air Force Officers Association of Nigeria, RANAO, led by its President, Rabiu Aliyu, paid him a courtesy visit in Kaduna.
“All of you have served this country in providing security to the lives and property of the people and also in defending the sovereignty of the country.
“Now that we are faced with serious security challenges, I will like to appeal to RANAO to collaborate with the state and Federal Government to address the security situation in the state.
“Every state has its own peculiarities in terms of security challenges, and since you have chapters in every state, I would like to personally extend Kaduna state’s interest in partnering with you in order to see how we can address some of the security challenges”, he said.
The governor directed the coordinator of the state security outfit, Operation Yaki, to discuss further with the association on strategies to tackle the prevailing insecurity in the state.
Earlier, the President of the association, Mr. Aliyu, said that members were ready to use their wealth of knowledge and experience to assist the government in tackling security challenges in the state.
“Amongst our objectives is to provide such professional services and advice within the competence of members in an effective and efficient manner, in security management, commerce, technical field, and other areas.
“To assist charitable organisations that are set up for the promotion of welfare and recreation of the Nigerian masses and the improvement of national understanding and unity”, he said.
Mr. Aliyu, a retired Major General, said that the association was also concerned with strengthening ties between the armed forces and the three tiers of the government, protecting members’ interests, and promoting national development.
