On Monday, the parties to the petition contesting the election of Senator for Kaduna North Constituency closed their case, and the Election Petition Court in Kaduna adjourned until August 7 to adopt final addresses.
The deadline for submitting and signing addresses set by Justice H.H. Kereng is August 4.
Prior to this hearing, D.B. Kwajafa, counsel for the second respondent, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), filed a motion to dismiss the PDP’s lawsuit.
Since “we have previewed evidence by the petitioners and that of the first respondent and we are of the view that we don’t need to call any witness,” he declared, “we don’t need to call any witness.”
H.S. Gachi, representing the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), the third respondent, also stated that his side will not be presenting any witnesses and moved to dismiss the matter.
