Kaduna NDC Candidate Abbas Condemns Attacks on Peter Obi

The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) governorship candidate in Kaduna State, Abbas, has condemned attacks against Peter Obi, describing them as unacceptable and contrary to democratic principles.

Abbas criticised attempts to disrupt or prevent Obi from carrying out his political activities ahead of the 2027 general elections.

He maintained that every political candidate has the right to campaign, engage with citizens and seek their support in any part of the country, provided such activities are conducted within the law.

The Kaduna NDC candidate urged political actors and their supporters to respect the fundamental rights of other candidates and allow voters to freely listen to different political messages before making their choices.

He warned against intimidation, harassment and other actions capable of undermining Nigeria’s democratic process.

Abbas also called on security agencies to ensure the safety of politicians and their supporters during political engagements, stressing that security personnel must provide a level playing field for all political parties.

He said political disagreements should be resolved through dialogue and democratic means rather than confrontation or violence.

The NDC candidate urged Nigerians to reject political intolerance and focus on issues, policies and programmes capable of addressing the country’s challenges.

He maintained that the 2027 elections should be an opportunity for Nigerians to freely exercise their democratic rights and choose their preferred leaders without intimidation or obstruction.
