As the tenure of the State Executive Committee of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kaduna draws to a close on Thursday, the party has highlighted its numerous accomplishments, including a strong showing in the 2019 Presidential Elections.
These claims were made during a valedictory session for the State Working Committee (SWC) in Kaduna on Tuesday.
In a statement issued by the party’s Publicity Secretary, Alberah Katoh, the Kaduna State PDP proudly noted that it delivered the highest number of votes for the party’s presidential candidate nationwide in 2019, with over 700,000 votes.
Despite the challenges in 2023, the party still garnered more than 500,000 votes in the presidential election.
The statement also pointed to the PDP’s electoral successes in Kaduna State, noting that the party secured all three Senatorial seats and 10 out of the 16 House of Representatives seats.
“The PDP also claimed 14 out of the 32 seats in the Kaduna State House of Assembly, won five Council Chairman positions, and secured 123 Councillorship seats,” the statement read.
Additionally, the party celebrated producing one of the youngest members of the National Working Committee (NWC), Prince Muhammed Suleiman Kadade, who was elected National Youth Leader at the age of 25.
The Kaduna State PDP also took pride in its handling of internal party crises, stating that it managed disputes effectively and provided a level playing field for all members seeking to contest elections.
This, they believe, was key to maintaining unity and delivering strong electoral results.
As the current executive committee prepares to hand over, the party remains confident in its legacy of strong leadership and electoral success in Kaduna State.
