Bello El-Rufai, the member representing Kaduna North Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, has refuted claims that his father, former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai, is anti-Christian.
Bello pointed out that one of the closest individuals to his father is a Christian from Cross River State named Peter Jones.
In a podcast interview with Seun Okinbaloye, Bello highlighted that his father has been unfairly stereotyped, and he shared a video where people made unfounded accusations about him without really knowing him.

He emphasized that Nasir El-Rufai does not actively seek to change people’s perceptions of him and is indifferent to such opinions.
Bello also addressed the perception that his father is anti-Christian, stating, “Religion is personal to us.”
He recounted instances during Nasir El-Rufai’s tenure as Minister of the Federal Capital Territory when mosques and churches were demolished.
According to Bello, these actions were often misinterpreted, with some imams and pastors wrongly attributing hatred towards their faith to Nasir El-Rufai.
The representative’s comments suggest a nuanced perspective on Nasir El-Rufai’s approach to religion and relationships, highlighting personal connections that challenge perceptions of religious bias.
