The lawmaker representing Abia North Senatorial District, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, has advised Governor Dauda Lawal of Zamfara State to reconcile his political differences with President Bola Tinubu in the interest of the state’s development.
Kalu gave the advice on Monday while commissioning the newly constructed Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development, as well as the renovated Zamfara College of Arts and Science, both located in Gusau, the state capital.
The former Abia State Governor warned that the people of Zamfara could be deprived of crucial developmental projects if the governor fails to adopt what he described as “political economics” with the President.

Kalu, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), clarified that his counsel was not for Governor Lawal to defect from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the APC, but to maintain a cordial relationship with President Tinubu, who remains a key political figure in the ruling party.
“Though I was in the PDP when I served as governor, I maintained a good relationship with President Tinubu who was then in the Alliance for Democracy (AD),” Kalu said.
He revealed that his personal ties with Tinubu predate their time as governors, adding, “The President is not only my brother but also my friend. People think we met as governors, but no. My children used to live in his house. Mrs. Tinubu raised those girls because while we lived in Abia, they schooled in Lagos and stayed at the President’s house in Marina.”
Kalu emphasized the importance of setting aside political differences for the sake of the state’s progress.
“Whatever political differences I had with the President have been resolved; we are now united. I want you to reconcile your differences with him as well. Remain PDP if you want, but when it comes to economic development, act as a Zamfara man so the state can benefit,” he advised.
Kalu further urged Governor Lawal to leverage his position to attract more Federal Government support and funding for developmental projects in Zamfara.
