The Kano State chapter of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has agreed to allocate 60 per cent of its leadership positions to former governor, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, and his supporters.
The decision was reached during a stakeholders’ meeting where party members deliberated on and adopted a new leadership structure.
The state chairman of the party, Musa Ungogo, confirmed the arrangement, stating that Kwankwaso’s camp would take the larger share, while the remaining 40 per cent would be distributed among existing members and other groups that recently joined the party.

Ungogo explained that no specific slot was reserved for former Deputy Governor, Nasiru Gawuna, but noted that he is aligned with Kwankwaso and would be accommodated within his bloc.
He said the 40 per cent share would be allocated to members from diverse political backgrounds, including defectors from the Labour Party, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), All Progressives Congress (APC), the Social Democratic Party (SDP), as well as individuals previously not active in politics.
“One thing you can take home is that every group and every member is happy about the sharing formula. Secondly, all the positions from this congress would be reached by consensus. There will be nothing to regret,” Ungogo said.
He added that the party is witnessing a surge in membership in Kano, with many new entrants from different political parties and non-aligned individuals.
Ungogo described Kwankwaso’s move to the ADC as a significant boost, commending both local and national leaders for driving the party’s recent growth in the state.
