The Director-General of Media and Publicity at the Kano State Government House, Sanusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, has criticised former governor, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, over his resignation from the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP).
In a Facebook post on Sunday, Bature described Kwankwaso’s decision as a betrayal, particularly of Mr. Boniface.

He said the development had taught him a significant lesson in politics, noting that the narrative of betrayal stems from Kwankwaso’s exit from the NNPP rather than any abandonment of the Kwankwasiyya movement.
“We did not say we left the Kwankwasiyya movement or its ideas, and we have not stopped wearing the red cap,” he said.
Bature added that it was time to pray for the former governor, insisting that Kwankwaso had ultimately betrayed himself by leaving the party.
He further noted that many individuals, in one way or another, had also betrayed Mr. Boniface, adding that “everyone is now in the same position.”
Meanwhile, Kwankwaso on Sunday confirmed his resignation from the NNPP with immediate effect.
In a statement he personally signed, the former presidential candidate said his decision followed careful consideration of Nigeria’s political direction and the need to align with a platform that offers better prospects for genuine change.
“I wish to formally announce my resignation from the NNPP with immediate effect,” Kwankwaso stated.
He acknowledged that the decision was difficult due to his long-standing association with the party but maintained that the current political climate necessitated a new direction.
“After looking at how things are going in the country, I believe it is necessary to join another political platform that gives the best chance to bring real change,” he added.
