The Kano State chapter of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has urged its members and supporters to remain calm following the omission of its governorship candidate, Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo, and his running mate, Mustapha Rabi’u Kwankwaso, from the final list of candidates released by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
The party attributed the development to a technical error, assuring its supporters that efforts were underway to correct the omission ahead of the 2027 governorship election.

The NDC’s Public Relations Officer in Kano State, Yusif Fasaha, made this known in a statement, saying the party had contacted INEC over the matter.
According to Fasaha, the commission assured the party that the omission resulted from a computer-related problem and that the necessary corrections would be made.
“I want to assure you that as the PRO of the party, the problem is not from us. We have consulted INEC, and they told us that the problem was from computer, and they will rectify it,” he said.
He added that the party expected a revised list containing the candidate’s name to be released by Monday, urging members not to panic over the development.
Fasaha maintained that Gwarzo had fulfilled all the requirements for participation in the election and that the party completed the necessary processes within the stipulated period.
He urged supporters to continue their political activities and consultations while awaiting the resolution of the issue.
The omission followed INEC’s release of the final list of Kano State governorship candidates on Saturday. The list contained 17 candidates from different political parties but did not include the NDC governorship candidate and his running mate.
The development has raised concerns among the party’s supporters, given the importance of the forthcoming election and the need for all eligible candidates to be properly reflected in the commission’s records.
The NDC expressed confidence that the issue would be resolved, while calling on its members to exercise patience as the party awaits further action from INEC.
