Former Super Eagles captain. Nwankwo Kanu has congratulated new world heavyweight champion Tyson Fury who defeated Vladmir Klitschko by unanimous decision in Duseldorf, Germany in the early hours of Sunday.
Fury won the highly publicised fight 115-112, 115-112, 116-111 and Kanu, though made his name as a football icon, took time to watch the fight.
“Its all over. Whatever you put your mind and your heart, and you pray you get. Congratulations, Fury. World champion,” Kanu, a two-time African Footballer of the Year tweeted.
Fury (24-0,18KOs) who had made headlines prior to the fight for infuriating Klitschko with his boastful comments said afterwards.
“It’s hard to come to a foreign country and win.
“When I got (the point docked) I thought I had lost.”
“You’re a great champion Vlad, thanks very much for having me,” the British boxer who called Jesus “my rock, my salvation,” said.
