Almost over a decade after he dropped his first solo album One Man Band, producer Swizz Beatz is gearing up for his second solo effort, titled Poison. As per Pitchfork, we finally have wind of the guest features set to appear on the new record and we can expect vocals from Kendrick Lamar, Nas, Pusha-T, Lil Wayne, 2 Chainz, the Lox, Jim Jones, and Giggs, among others.
“You can hear the passion from everyone on the record; they wanted to be a part of it,” Beatz told Pitchfork. “It wasn’t a transaction. When you hear other features on a lot of projects, it feels like a transaction. You’re either chasing hype or it’s a transaction.”
Beatz originally had 70 songs, which he stripped back to the 10 on the album. He explained,“I took all the hits off my record, meaning anything that felt too big that the rest of the record wouldn’t live.” Potential tracks with Kanye West, Bono from U2, and Bruno Mars failed to make the cut.
In addition to hip-hop oriented record Poison, the producer is also prepped to release a further four full-lengths focusing on R&B, acoustics, and “energy” record and a “global” album.
Poison is set to drop on July 20.
