A gospel artiste in Kenya, Peter Kaberere, died on Monday, April 7, 2014, after his car electrocuted him while he was washing it. It was a very sad day in Kenya and in the gospel fraternity.
The news of Kaberere’s death which broke around 6pm on Monday came as a shock to many, especially his family and fans.
The incident was caused by a faulty wire, according to sources.
A senior reporter and anchor at NTV Mijungu released a statement after confirming Kaberere’s death: –
‘Tonight my heart weeps for a man I never knew, bleeds for a family I will probably never know, my soul is heavy with grief and tempted to ask my savior why. Just over a month and a half ago I advertised my car for sale, a friend approached me and asked me to allow him take the car to a potential client at Westlands though jittery I let Eric go with it to meet Peter Kaberere, though we didn’t settle on an agreeable price that was my encounter with the gospel artist who said his family was growing hence needed a bigger and better car. Last week as I left my parking at Nation Center I saw Kaberere or someone in his VW pull over and park opposite Bata. We never spoke but it was very late maybe a few minutes to ten PM. I am sad, very sad I never knew him but certainly he had big dreams, he worked hard to reach his goals but God had other plans. I empathize with Njesh and her son, plus a baby Peter may have just seen on scan. God rest his soul. I am reminded that the vineyard owner only picks ripe fruits,’ she said.
He leaves behind his wife Njesh Kahura and son.
