On Wednesday, supporters of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, and the opposition Social Democratic Party, SDP, clashed in the Idah Local Government Area of Kogi State, leading to several injuries.
According to information acquired by InfoStride News, a gun battle broke out between opposing supporters, resulting in the damage of vehicles and the injury or death of several people, including a police officer.
Those who were hurt are reportedly being treated at a local hospital, the identity of which has not been revealed.

On Thursday, the incidence was verified by the Kogi State Police Command.
The Commissioner of Police, CP, Bethrand Onuoha, has reportedly requested an investigation into the event, as stated in a statement released by the Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, SP William Ovye Aya.
Aya reported that the CP had condemned the event and informed the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of the Criminal Investigation Department to begin investigating.
To guarantee a safe voting process, “The CP reaffirms the Command’s unwavering commitment to continue to engage the critical stakeholders in Election Security Management.”
The statement read, “Command is ever determined in providing a level playing ground for all Political Parties as they embark on campaigns, rallies, procession among others.”
Ahead of the governorship election on November 11 in Kogi State, the Police Command has issued a warning to potential troublemakers.
The CP emphasized that the Police and other security agencies involved in Election Security Management will take swift action against anyone who interferes with the election.
