In practice for the gubernatorial election on November 11, 2023, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has scheduled a mock accreditation of voters on Saturday, October 14, 2023.
At the Kogi INEC Headquarters in Lokoja, during the formal publishing and presentation of the register of voters to the 18 participating political parties in the approaching governorship election, INEC national chairman Prof. Mahmud Yakubu made the announcement.
The state’s three senatorial districts each had three polling places, but Yakubu, who was represented by a national commissioner named Prof Sani Adam (SAN), announced that just nine polling places would be used for the exercise.

The chairman also declared that the excise in Bayelsa and Imo states, whose governorship elections will also be held on November 11, will occur at the same time.
As a “litmus test” for the actual election, he urged voters and residents of the selected polling locations to turn out in large numbers for the practice run.
He claims that the commission is ready for the gubernatorial election. For the sake of a fair, honest, and orderly election, he urged both candidates and voters to play by the rules.

“As a commission, we expect everyone to eschew any form of violence or crisis to help usher in a leader that will pilot the affairs of the state after Jan. 26 for the desired growth and development,” he said.
Yakubu discussed the importance of releasing the voter roll and presenting it to the 18 political parties.
According to him, 1,932,654 people in Kogi are registered to vote in the upcoming election, including 953,941 men.
All political parties running for office will receive a PDF copy of the voter roll. For the upcoming election in Kogi, all 3,508 polling locations will be equipped with the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) by the commission.
‘We have trained technical support workers for BVAS, and they will be deployed to all the registration locations and the local government regions,’ he said.
