Former Kano State governor and leader of the Kwankwasiyya Movement, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, has declared that he is the only “priceless” politician in Kano State, insisting that money does not influence his political decisions.
Kwankwaso, who was the presidential candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) in the 2023 general election, made the statement on Tuesday while addressing supporters at his residence in Kano.
He said that although many Nigerians believe that every politician can be bought, he was proud to describe himself as priceless, stressing that his political choices are guided by principles rather than financial gain.

According to him, if money were his primary motivation, he already knew where to align politically.
The former governor also claimed that no one had ever attempted to “buy” him politically, adding that his decisions have always been driven by conviction and not by personal benefit.
Kwankwaso extended the description to his supporters, saying members of the Kwankwasiyya Movement were also “priceless” because they did not allow money to influence their choices during elections.
He recalled his earlier criticism of the alleged plan by Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, to defect to the All Progressives Congress (APC), describing such a move as painful.
“The most painful part is they are taking the governorship seat and handing it over to Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, whom we rescued Kano from,” he said.
In his latest remarks, however, Kwankwaso urged his followers to remain calm and patient, noting that political offices do not last forever.
He added that circumstances could change at any time, stressing that God has the power to alter situations.
Kwankwaso’s comments come amid reports of a growing rift between him and Governor Yusuf, his long-time political ally, following speculations that the governor may be planning to defect to the APC.
