It is possible that traders of frozen fish in Ilorin, the capital of the state of Kwara, could end their one-week strike on Monday.
According to InfoStride News, they have been on strike for the past week in protest of the steadily increasing prices of the goods.
According to the findings in Ilorin, the price of a carton of Shawa fish has increased to N35,000 from its previous price of N18,000.

The price of the well-known brand ‘Panla’ has more than doubled, going from N15,000 to N35,000 for a carton, while the cost of ‘Alaran’ salmon has more than tripled, going from N45,000 to N75,000 each container.
Mama Alia, a businesswoman who operates in the metropolitan area of Ilorin and sells fried fish, had a conversation with the media on Sunday and voiced her indignation about the huge increase in the price of the many kinds of fish that she purchases for her company.
She expressed her frustration by saying, “We are tired of the current increase in prices; we want the government to wade into the situation.”
She mentioned that fish that used to be sold for N100 will no longer cost N200, while fish that used to be sold for N50 will now cost N100. “There will not be any more N20 fish,” she said multiple times.
