The Nenadi Usman-led faction of the Labour Party, LP, has rebuked Julius Abure for allegedly parading himself as the party’s National Chairman despite the Supreme Court judgment of April 4, 2025.
In a statement issued on Monday in Abuja, the factional Interim National Secretary, Darlington Nwokocha, called on the Prosecutor-General of the Federation to expedite action on recommendations for Abure’s prosecution over alleged impersonation and other related offences.
The statement was issued in response to an earlier claim by Abure that the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, had misconstrued the Supreme Court judgment and its refusal to upload the particulars of Labour Party aspirants for the February Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Area Council elections.

According to the faction, the Supreme Court judgment clearly brought Abure’s tenure as National Chairman to an end, accusing him of attempting to commercialise the party’s structure.
“The Labour Party is not for sale. Mr Abure and his associates should seek legitimate means of livelihood rather than attempting to commercialise political structures,” the statement said.
The faction further alleged that Abure and his supporters have turned into what it described as “vexatious and abusive litigants,” noting that they have instituted more than 20 court cases against INEC and the Labour Party leadership led by Senator Nenadi Usman and Senator Darlington Nwokocha across courts in the country, particularly in the FCT.
It maintained that INEC’s position on the leadership crisis in the party aligns with the Supreme Court ruling, insisting that Abure no longer has any legal standing to act or speak on behalf of the Labour Party.
