The Labour Party (LP) has announced the emergence of 26 chairmanship candidates for the upcoming July 12 Local Government elections in Lagos State.
State Chairperson of the party, Pastor Dayo Ekong, disclosed this development on Saturday in Lagos, following the conclusion of primary elections conducted on Friday across 26 designated council areas.
Ekong explained that the primaries were held in only 26 out of the 57 local government areas and local council development areas (LCDAs) in Lagos, adding that the party opted not to field candidates in 30 councils for strategic reasons.

She listed some of the LGAs where the party would not be participating as Ikeja, Surulere, Agege, Igbogbo-Baiyeku, Lagos Island East, Lagos Island West, and Ajeromi-Ifelodun.
Ekong also noted that the party’s primary election for Oshodi/Isolo LGA would be rescheduled, completing the anticipated list of 27 candidates.
