The Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress, APC, has thrown its weight behind President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s New Year message, insisting that there will be no retreat from ongoing reforms and no distraction from what it described as the “noise of failed alternatives.”
The party said President Tinubu would not be stampeded, blackmailed or distracted by critics who, according to it, have nothing to offer beyond “recycled excuses and empty rhetoric.”

In a statement signed by the party’s spokesman, Seye Oladejo, the Lagos APC said the President’s New Year address was a blunt reminder that leadership is neither an entertainment contest nor a popularity poll, but the responsibility of making difficult decisions in the national interest.
Oladejo noted that such tough choices were avoided by previous leaders who, he said, now criticise from the sidelines after wrecking the country for decades.
“The President spoke with the confidence of a man who understands both the depth of Nigeria’s challenges and the courage required to confront them,” the statement read.
“His message reaffirmed what Nigerians already know: that the era of economic escapism, fiscal recklessness and governance by deception is over. The Renewed Hope Agenda is not a slogan; it is a reset, and resets are never painless.”
The Lagos APC said that despite what it described as “orchestrated hysteria” by a disoriented opposition, the country is recording measurable progress.
According to the party, macroeconomic indicators are stabilising, investor confidence is improving, infrastructure investments are gaining momentum and decisive steps are being taken to address national security challenges.
“These gains are not accidents; they are the early dividends of leadership that refuses to mortgage the future for applause,” Oladejo said.
He added that the same individuals predicting doom today are those responsible for the country’s past decline, stressing that Nigerians have rejected them at the ballot box.
“As the political and economic heartbeat of the nation, Lagos stands solidly with the President. Lagos understands reform. Lagos has lived it. Lagos knows that progress demands discipline, patience and sacrifice,” the statement added.
The party urged Nigerians to remain focused and resolute, assuring that the path to national renewal is being pursued with clarity and determination.
“There will be no retreat. There will be no distraction. Nigeria is moving forward—whether the cynics like it or not,” Oladejo concluded.
