The Lagos State Government has sealed the Celestial Church of Christ, the Redeemed Christian Church of God, and seven other companies and hotels in Ikeja, Mushin, Gbagada, and Maryland areas for violating environmental regulations.
The crackdown was confirmed by the Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, in a statement shared on his X account on Wednesday.
Wahab noted that the enforcement, led by the Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency (LASEPA), was part of efforts to tackle noise pollution and other environmental infractions across the state.
The sealed establishments include Vital Products Limited, A & P Nigeria Limited, Polite Anchorage and Suites, Terrag Inn Apartment, Evening Class Guest House, a printing press, Charley’s Bar, and 7th Heaven Hotel & Suites.
According to Wahab, these businesses and religious centres were found guilty of violating environmental laws despite several warnings from LASEPA.
The General Manager of LASEPA, Babatunde Ajayi, reiterated the agency’s strict stance against non-compliance, stating, “We will not tolerate non-compliance with our regulations.”
This development comes just a week after LASEPA sealed Donalds, a popular restaurant in the Lekki area owned by socialite Cubana Chiefpriest, for similar violations.
The Lagos State Government continues to intensify its enforcement of environmental laws as part of its efforts to ensure a cleaner and more sustainable environment for residents.
