Majority Leader, Lagos State House of Assembly, Hon. Sanai O.B. Agunbiade, disclosed that the activities of land grabbers, popularly called “ajagungbale” in the local parlance, have been identified as one of the major hindrances to the socio-economic development of Ikorodu Division of Lagos State.
Hon. Agunbiade, who is representing Ikorodu Constituency 1, said this during his recent stakeholders meeting tagged “Towards a Better Constituency Engagement” with his constituency held at Ikorodu Local Government Secretariat, Ikorodu.
According to him, “In order to curb the activities of the land grabbers, the State House of Assembly enacted the “Property Protection Law” with which it is now fully poised to fight the ajagungbales to a standstill in the State”.
The LSHA Majority Leader stated that, the constituency engagement, which is traceable to the administration of Alhaji Lateef Jakande, was designed to feel the pulse of the electorates, enlighten them on government policies and programmes, as well as get their feedbacks and inputs into 2016 budget preparation.
Speaking in the same vein, the Executive Secretary, Ikorodu Local Government Area, Hon. Wasiu Adeshina urged the people to support their elected representative for successful implementation of their planned projects and programmes for the community.
Present at the stakeholders meeting were top government functionaries, traditional rulers, transporters, marketers, students, religious bodies, politicians, civil servants, representatives of the Nigerian Bar Association and youths in the community. [LASG]
