Where: World Economic Forum, Press Conference Room, Convention Center, Cape Town, South Africa.
Who: The Africa Progress Panel is chaired by former UN Secretary General, Kofi Annan. The other panel members are Michel Camdessus, former Managing Director of the IMF; Peter Eigen, founder of Transparency International; Bob Geldof, musician, businessman and campaigner; Graça Machel, social and political activist; Strive Masiyiwa, Chairman and Chief Executive of Econet Wireless; Linah Mohohlo, Governor of the Bank of Botswana; Olusegun Obasanjo, former President of Nigeria; Robert E Rubin, former Secretary of the US Treasury; and Tidjane Thiam, incoming Chief Executive of Credit Suisse.
The 2015 Africa Progress Panel report, “Power, People, Planet, Seizing Africa’s Energy and Climate Opportunities” details how climate change demands that we rethink the relationship between energy and development in Africa and globally.
Panel members will address the media at the launch in Cape Town and will be available for interviews in the preceding days.
