Liverpool coach, Jurgen Klopp has revealed that he is finally happy to break any unlucky tag connected to him after winning the UCL after the Reds’s 2-0 victory over Tottenham Hotspur.
An early Mohamed Salah penalty and a late goal by Divock Origi gave Liverpool the win in Saturday’s all-English final in Madrid as Klopp finally clinched his first title with Liverpool.
But before Saturday’s victory in Spain, Klopp had been defeated in 6 straight finals.
He lost the UCL final last year against Real Madrid and also ended the season as runner-up in the competition with Borussia Dortmund in 2013. He has also lost two German Cup finals, an Europa League and League Cup final with Liverpool.
And this is why Klopp is finally relieved to win.
His words, “I feel mostly relief to be honest, for my family actually,”
“We always go on holiday the last six times, with a silver medal, it didn’t feel too cool. It’s different this year, it’s for them.
“[My players and I] were pretty much crying on the pitch because it was so emotional, so big. I know how Tottenham feels in the moment better than anyone else in the world.
“It is important that people don’t ask us all the time about not winning,” Klopp said.
“We want to win things too, 100 percent, this is only the start for this group. They have their best years ahead of them.
“I have a lot of silver medals and now I have a gold one, but I’m really happy for other people.
“We have a good mix of talent and experienced players and today was just about enjoying it and we did.”
Right back, Trent Arnold als said, “I am just a normal lad from Liverpool whose dream has just come true.
“It took a while, it is important for our development and improvement, This little mark helps a lot, now we can carry on. The owners never put pressure on us.
“It is hard to put into words. The season we have had, we deserved it more than any other team. We have done something special, we dominated the game.
“We will not look back and think it was sluggish game, we will see we are European champions.
