Lionel Messi is a minor doubt for Barcelona’s clash against Real Madrid on Wednesday after ending Saturday’s 2-2 draw with Valencia with a thigh problem.
Ernesto Valverde is hoping that it’s nothing too problematic and that Messi will be fit to face Madrid in the Copa del Rey semifinal first leg.
His words, “We have to wait until [Sunday] to see how the pain is,” Valverde said in his postgame news conference. “I can’t help you any more than that. We hope that he will recover [in time] for Madrid. Either on Sunday or on Monday we’ll determine exactly what the problem is.
“I don’t know what it is. We will see what the medical team tell us but we don’t imagine it is anything too bad.”
