Liverpool earned a hard-fought win against Wolves on a rainy Friday night at Molineux, with Mohamed Salah delivering a goal and an assist in their 2-0 victory.
Liverpool came into the match atop the Premier League and were ahead before the 20-minute mark when Salah deftly redirected a Fabinho cutback past Rui Patricio with the outside of his left foot.
Despite two more decent Salah chances, Wolves looked as good or better throughout the second part of the first half, but still went to the dressing room down 1-0.
Salah again looked dangerous after the break and he set up Liverpool’s second in the 68th minute, picking out Virgil van Dijk in Wolves’ penalty area for the Netherlands international to volley home from close range to double the lead.
The win means Jurgen Klopp’s team will remain atop the table until at least the next round of fixtures on Boxing Day as they have a provisional four-point lead over second-placed Man City, who play Crystal Palace on Saturday.
