Liverpool FC will sideline its midfielder Jordan Henderson for up to eight weeks after breaking a bone in his right foot.
The England international picked up the injury in training and could have an operation on Monday.
“Very disappointed and frustrated with the injury setback but will work hard to be back as quickly as possible,” tweeted Henderson.
“Will be supporting the team in every way I can while I’m unable to play. Thanks for all of your support.”
The injury is different from the heel problem on his left foot which has sidelined the 25-year-old from the Reds’ last four games and has seen him travel to the United States for injection during his medical break.
Henderson could miss up to 11 matches for coach Brendan Rodgers’ side and also England’s Euro 2016 qualifiers against Estonia on 9 October and Lithuania on 12 October, and will be a doubt for friendlies against Spain and France in November.
The northern Irish boss had expressed optimism concerning the former Sunderland player’s recovery in his press conference on Friday, saying: “We’ve got players hopefully coming back that will add to the squad and see us go on a run of games.
“Jordan’s impact has grown during my time here. When you miss players of that caliber, it’s going to have an impact.

“I’m sure it was a little frustrating for him because apart from an early period in his career at Sunderland, he’s never had this length of time out.”
Henderson, who scored six Premier League goals last season, could be sidelined until mid-November.
