Liverpool manager, Jurgen Klopp has referred to his team as “f—ing giants” after they came back from a 3 – 0 to defeat Barcelona 4-3 on aggregate.
The English club secured the victory and they are now heading to their second UCL final in 2 years.
After the game, Klopp said to BT Sport: “These boys are fucking giants. Fine me for swearing if you want. These boys are giants.
“Creating this kind of emotional atmosphere together is so special. It’s all about the players. James Milner was crying at the end. It’s so special – the mix of potential and unbelievable heart — I’ve never seen it before.”
“We needed to be serious and cheeky — all the predictable things, Barcelona defend well – -we needed to be unpredictable. Ben Woodburn looked at me at the end and said ‘what happened?'”
Captain Jordan Henderson also said, “Unbelievable. I don’t think many people gave us a chance. Before the game we knew that it would be difficult but it was still possible of course,” Henderson told BT Sport.
“It’s amazing. We knew that at Anfield we could do something special. It’s a special night. They’re a fantastic team but we knew if we showed heart we had a chance to get something.”
Wijnaldum, who netted two goals in the game also said “I was really angry that the manager put me on the bench. I just tried to help my team, [and] I’m happy I could do that with two goals.”
