His victory was announced by Governor Usman Ododo of Kogi State, who chaired the Primary Election Committee.

Aiyedatiwa secured the highest votes of 48,569, while Mayowa Akinfolarin came second with 15,343 votes. Olusola Oke and Jimoh Ibrahim followed in third and fourth positions, scoring 14,915 and 9,456 votes respectively.

The primaries, which were marked by controversy and tension, lasted for nearly 48 hours, beginning on April 20.
