Manchester United midfielder, Bruno Fernandes has come out to say that his tackle on James Maddison was never a red card. This is coming after Manchester United’s 3-0 home defeat to Tottenham, and fans have been reacting.
According to him, even if he agrees that he let his teammates down during the match, he never took Maddison out with his studs like the officials concluded.

Bruno added that even Maddison admitted to him that it was just a foul, and not a dismissal.
His words, “I just wanted to come and talk [do the interview] and be myself because my team-mates deserve that for what they have done in the game playing with one man less. Particularly as I was the man sent off, the one that let them down. The team showed a lot of character, a lot of resilience, a lot of fight. They tried. It wasn’t easy.
I’m slipping. I don’t take him as everyone wants to see it. I don’t take him with my studs, I take him with my ankle. It’s a clear foul but never a red card. That’s my feeling and even Maddison when he gets up… he just said it’s a foul but it’s never a red card, that’s what he said. In the eyes of everyone, you can see it’s never a red card. If this is a red card, we have to look at many other incidents. I’ve had many incidents when I get kicked and I’ve never seen something so quick coming off as a red card. It’s never a red card.”
WOW.
Manchester United Football Club, commonly referred to as Man United or simply United, is a professional football club based in Old Trafford, Greater Manchester, England. The club competes in the Premier League, the top division in the English football league system.
Nicknamed the Red Devils, they were founded as Newton Heath LYR Football Club in 1878, but changed their name to Manchester United in 1902. After a spell playing in Clayton, Manchester, the club moved to their current stadium, Old Trafford, in 1910.
Alex Ferguson and his assistant Archie Knox arrived from Aberdeen on the day of Atkinson’s dismissal, and guided the club to an 11th-place finish in the league. Despite a second-place finish in 1987–88, the club was back in 11th place the following season. Reportedly on the verge of being dismissed, Ferguson’s job was saved by victory over Crystal Palace in the 1990 FA Cup final.
The following season, Manchester United claimed their first UEFA Cup Winners’ Cup title. That triumph allowed the club to compete in the European Super Cup for the first time, where United beat European Cup holders Red Star Belgrade 1–0 at Old Trafford. The club appeared in two consecutive League Cup finals in 1991 and 1992, beating Nottingham Forest 1–0 in the second to win that competition for the first time as well.
