MainOne CEO, Funke Opeke, is strongly annoyed with the gender ration in ICT world. The ratio which was 7:3 male to female has caught the worrying eyes of the Former MTN Chief Technology Officer. In her reaction towards such outrageous imbalance, Ms. Funke Opeke has highlighted the need for commitment toward submarine cable which was aimed at clearing gender imbalance in the society.
A gendered line of ICT
Speaking on the Technology Camp supported by MainOne, she buttressed the support is necessary to clear the big gap for ICT gender structure already on ground. The camp is a two week camping and computer training developed at stirring the interest of teenage girls in global world of information technology.
In a global ICT competition in San Francisco, four Nigerian girls had outsmarted their co-competitors from Brazil, US, Indonesia, and India with a whooping prize of $10,000. The MainOne CEO made the emphasis that every girl should develop a big feel for computer knowledge whether in software hardware or other areas of technology.
