The immediate past National Vice Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, (South West), Eddy Olafeso, has lashed out at the Governor of Oyo State, Seyi Makinde, over the crisis rocking the party within the south west zone.
Olafeso on Tuesday stated that the failure to invite some leaders of the party to PDP meeting in Ibadan, which was at the behest of Makinde was responsible for the attendance of the Lagos meeting called by former Governor of Ekiti State, Ayodele Fayose.
The Ondo chapter of the PDP is backing the Ibadan meeting while Olafeso and other PDP chieftains in Ondo are in support of the PDP South west zonal meeting held in Lagos State.
According to Olafeso, the party’s constitution made provisions for the number of persons to attend PDP zonal meetings.
While expressing optimism that the crisis would soon be resolved, he urged the Ondo chapter of the party to strive for the unity of the party instead of further polarizing the already fractured party in the state.
Olafeso warned that any attempt to begin to black mail Ondo PDP members to trump up charges against them would be rebuffed.
