The General Managing Director of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, Mallam Mele Kyari has appeared before the House of Representative In Abuja to defend the 2021 budget of the corporation.

The House of Representatives’ Joint Committees on Petroleum have reportedly commended the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation for it’s achievements in it’s commitment to transparency and accountability.
The commendation was given by the Chairman of the Committees, Honourable Musa Sarki Adar, at the Budget Defense hearing, which took place at the National Assembly Complex.The committee commended the NNPC’ timely defense of the 2021 budget.
The Joint Committee Chairman, Honourable Musa Sarki stated that he firstly had bias about the Mallam Kyari’s TAPE agenda, but has however start to see it’s positive impact.
In his response Mallam Kyari said that following his assumption of office as the NNPC’ General Managing Director, his major aim has been to positively impact the corporation in the interest of Nigerians.
Recall that the NNPC’ published the 2018 and 2019 Audited Financial Reports; Mallam Kyari noted that this was done through his determination to leave an open minded legacy in the oil and gas company coupled with the support he received from President Muhammadu Buhari.
The NNPC boss thus appealed to the legislators to speed up action on the passage of the Petroleum Industry Bill (PIB) so as to attract investment to the oil and gas industry and thereby create employment.
