Tragedy struck Asa Umudim community in Osisioma Local Government Area of Abia State after a man, reportedly around 40 years old, set his house on fire, killing one of his daughters and leaving his wife and two other children critically injured.
According to eyewitnesses, the suspect allegedly poured an inflammable substance around the house before igniting the fire, accusing his wife of infidelity and frequently receiving phone calls from suspected lovers.
One of the man’s daughters was trapped in the inferno and died at the scene, while the wife and two other children sustained life-threatening injuries and are currently receiving treatment at an undisclosed hospital.

A local source revealed that enraged villagers nearly lynched the suspect before police officers arrived at the scene and took him into custody.
The remains of the deceased daughter have been deposited in a morgue.
Confirming the incident, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of the Abia State Police Command, DSP Maureen Chinaka, stated: “Yes, the police are aware. Investigation is ongoing.”
