Manchester United would have to pay at least £100million to stand any chance of acquiring both Arturo Vidal and Paul Pogba from Juventus, according to Serie A expert Gab Marcotti.
.
Whilst talking to talkSPORT, Marcotti completely rubbished the idea of the reigning Premier League champions securing the pair, as they would cost far too much money.
.
Pogba and Vidal have both been present on David Moyes’ wishlist for this month, and it would seem that United had been interested in bringing them both to the Premier League. The United boss was said to have been in Italy recently to discuss the possibility of transfers with Juventus, but was told by the Turin club in no uncertain terms that neither was available.
.
However, Marcotti believes that regardless of the outcome of those talks, United wouldn’t have been able to afford to do the business they were proposing.
.
“Man United are not in a position to put down the money required to land Pogba or Vidal,” Marcotti said.
.
“You are talking about silly money.
.
“United may bring in a midfielder, but they are not going to rebuild David Moyes’ team for him. I don’t think he wants that anyway. I think he’s going to spend the rest of the year evaluating what he’s got and then the big expenditure will come in the summer.
.
“Vidal signed a new contract recently and they will have to pay through the nose to get him. Pogba hasn’t [signed a new deal] but he has another three years to go at Juventus. They’re both worth £50million plus, I don’t see a club like Man United making that sort of expenditure now.”
.
It’s thought that Moyes is hoping to make additions to his squad this January, with a number of midfielders having been linked with a move to Old Trafford. As of yet though there have been no signings.
