Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal
will fight his Football Association charge for
comments he made about the referee after
an FA Cup match last month.
.
Van Gaal made the comments about referee Chris Foy after United were held to a 0-0 draw by fourth-tier side Cambridge United.
.
“Every aspect of a match is against us,” he said at the time.
.
“Then you have seen the referee. It’s always the same. Everywhere I have coached these games and I have coached them also with other clubs, it’s always the same.”
.
The Premier League giants won the fourth- round replay 3-0 at Old Trafford on Tuesday.
.
The 63-year-old says he is surprised at the charge, which the FA says “allege and/or imply bias on the part of the match referee and/or bring the game into disrepute.”
.
“In 30 years as a trainer-coach I have never been charged. I do not think I said something wrong,” says van Gaal.
.
“I said in the press conference before the game that everything is in favour of the underdog.”
