Manchester United legend Wayne Rooney has said that MUFC players will always be criticised when they don’t win. He recently had his say while speaking to the press, and fans have been reacting.
According to him, because footballers who play for a club as big as MUFC get praised heavily when they do well, the same players should also expect heavy criticism when the reverse is the case.

Rooney added that Manchester United is still one of the biggest clubs in the world; therefore, its coaches and players must always act accordingly on the field.
His words, “When I made them comments, it’s not something I really want to do, but I feel you have to tell the truth on it. And Ruben Amorim himself has been critical of the players. And, you know, it wasn’t long ago he was telling us it was the worst Man Utd team in the history of the club. And that’s him being honest, and if that’s his thoughts, that’s his thoughts.
But for the players, they have to keep focused on what they’re doing and he’s the manager, listening to what he’s saying and tactically what he wants and try and win games.
And that’s the only way it changes really. Unfortunately, I’ve been there as a player and, you know, being criticised as a player and you have to just try and focus on your job and try and win games. And you are at Manchester United – it’s still one of the biggest clubs in the world, so you have to expect to be criticised when you don’t win or don’t play well. And on the flip side to that, the benefits of playing well and winning games are huge.”
WOW.
Manchester United Football Club, commonly referred to as Man United or simply United, is a professional football club based in Old Trafford, Greater Manchester, England. The club competes in the Premier League, the top division in the English football league system.
Nicknamed the Red Devils, they were founded as Newton Heath LYR Football Club in 1878, but changed their name to Manchester United in 1902. After a spell playing in Clayton, Manchester, the club moved to their current stadium, Old Trafford, in 1910.
Alex Ferguson and his assistant Archie Knox arrived from Aberdeen on the day of Atkinson’s dismissal, and guided the club to an 11th-place finish in the league. Despite a second-place finish in 1987–88, the club was back in 11th place the following season. Reportedly on the verge of being dismissed, Ferguson’s job was saved by victory over Crystal Palace in the 1990 FA Cup final.
The following season, Manchester United claimed their first UEFA Cup Winners’ Cup title. That triumph allowed the club to compete in the European Super Cup for the first time, where United beat European Cup holders Red Star Belgrade 1–0 at Old Trafford. The club appeared in two consecutive League Cup finals in 1991 and 1992 the left and the right, but he’s not got any sense of danger yet, and empties the midfield area too readily.
