Ex Barcelona vice-president, Jordi Mestre has come out to say that Lionel Messi will remain captain at the club.
Jordi recently revealed that Messi is not happy at Barca right now and he would be staying against his will.
According to him, the Argentine is angry with the president and many journalists, but if he stays eventually, his performance on the pitch will not be affected.
He added that it is time for the Spanish club to calm the waters and regain control over the situation at the club.
His words, “I think, in these moments, he’s not happy.”
“I listened to the interview and he is staying against his will. [The problem] is not with the club, but with the president. There’s a divorce between player and president.”
“He’s angry with the president and many journalists, but he will return to be the same as ever.”
“If (Bartomeu) had wanted Messi to go, he would have got a lot of money for the club, but from the first moment he wanted him to stay. (Now) it’s time to calm the waters, let the situation get back under control.”
