The same players were picked for UEFA’s Player of the Year, with Van Dijk becoming the first defender to win the award at the Champions League draw ceremony last week.

Modric, Real Madrid midfielder, got the award last year, beating Ronaldo and Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah to the prize.
