The late King of Pop’s estate has filed legal documents in their dispute with Michael Jackson’s mum, Katherine over the cost of her attorney’s fees. A representative recently had his say while speaking with the press, and the world has been reacting.
According to the estate, Katherine has gotten a large amount of cash and other benefits since Michael’s death in 2009, and it actually totals over $55 million in nearly 15 years.
The state added that a significant portion of the money comes from a monthly allowance that is over $160k and amounts to $33 million of the $55 million.
Katherines current fight with Michael’s estate seemingly centres on a disagreement over a multi-million deal struck by the estate for the sale of a portion of Michael’s music rights.
WOW.
Michael Joseph Jackson (August 29, 1958 – June 25, 2009) was an American singer, songwriter, dancer, and philanthropist. Known as the “King of Pop”, he is regarded as one of the most significant cultural figures of the 20th century. During his four-decade career, his contributions to music, dance, and fashion, along with his publicized personal life, made him a global figure in popular culture.
Jackson influenced artists across many music genres. Through stage and video performances, he popularized complicated street dance moves such as the moonwalk, which he named, as well as the robot.
Michael Joseph Jackson was born in Gary, Indiana, on August 29, 1958. He was the eighth of ten children in the Jackson family, a working-class African-American family living in a two-bedroom house on Jackson Street. His mother, Katherine Esther Jackson (née Scruse), played clarinet and piano, had aspired to be a country-and-western performer, and worked part-time at Sears.
In 2016, Forbes estimated annual gross earnings by the Jackson Estate at $825 million, the largest ever recorded for a celebrity, mostly due to the sale of the Sony/ATV catalog.
