Captain of the Super Eagles John Mikel Obi could be ready for the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) clash against South Africa on Saturday, June 10.
Mikel Obi took to his Instagram to reveal that he has had surgery in a London hospital for an inguinal hernia which many thought would rule him out of the clash.
According to a statement from Tianjin TEDA, their captain is expected to return to training just a week after the surgery.
“Mikel is expected to be resumed after a week of training,” TEDA said in a statement.
Further, in the statement, Tianjin TEDA revealed that Mikel got the injury during a training session in Shanghai.
To first investigate the cause of the injury, the midfielder was sent to Beijing Chaoyang Hospital for an examination before he was sent to England for the surgery
