Aston Villa manager, Steven Gerrard has come out to say that Tyrone Mings must show significant improvement if he wants to return to the starting line-up. He recently had his say while speaking to the press, and fans have been reacting.
According to him, he stripped the Englishman off the captain armband as a way to challenge him to be at his consistent best to return to the starting eleven.
Gerrard added that when the defender gets back to his best and proves he is ready to play, he’ll get opportunities.
His words, “When I made the decision over the captaincy, I set him that challenge,”
“We said to Tyrone ‘if you get back to your consistent best, you’ll be back in the team’.”
“It’s a little bit of that.”
“He’s also missed some training time with an injury and there’s a niggle in the background as well.”
“When Tyrone is back at his best and looks me in the eye and shows that he’s ready to play, he’ll get opportunities.”
