President Muhammadu Buhari on Monday named new service chiefs as well as National Security Adviser.
The appointments came on the heels of the sack of the former service chiefs and NSA appointed by former President Goodluck Jonathan.
In a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina, the president appointed Major-General Babagana Monguno (rtd) as his NSA. Monguno replaces Col. Sambo Dasuki (rtd).
The new service chiefs according to the statement are Major-General Abayomi Gabriel Olonishakin, Chief of Defence Staff; Major-General T.Y. Buratai, Chief of Army Staff; Rear Admiral Ibok-Ete Ekwe Ibas, Chief of Naval Staff; Air Vice Marshal Sadique Abubakar, Chief of Air Staff and Air Vice Marshal Monday Riku Morgan, Chief of Defence Intelligence.
The statement said the new Service Chiefs would hold their appointments in an acting capacity until confirmed by the Senate.
“President Buhari thanks the outgoing Service Chiefs and National Security Adviser for their services to the nation and wishes them well in their future endeavours”, the statement concluded.
