Mudashiru Obasa has been reinstated as the Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly following the resignation of Mojisola Meranda.
Obasa was sworn in on Monday after a closed-door meeting involving Meranda, lawmakers, and key stakeholders outside the Assembly chambers.
Meranda, who had served as Speaker for 49 days, stepped down on Monday, paving the way for Obasa’s return.

In January, the Assembly had impeached Obasa over allegations of misappropriation, leading to Meranda’s emergence as Speaker.
However, in February, Obasa returned to the Assembly, insisting that he had never been removed from office.
Monday’s meeting was attended by Lagos State APC chairman Cornelius Ojelabi, the Attorney General of the state, and other lawmakers.
Obasa’s reinstatement was reportedly finalized after a Sunday night meeting with party stakeholders, including Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu.
