The murder trial of Sunny Bekanwa, former Caretaker Committee Chairman of Khana Local Government Area of Rivers State, and Henry Barikui-Dele has begun before a Rivers State High Court in Port Harcourt.
Bekanwa and Barikui-Dele are facing seven counts of conspiracy, murder, and cultism.
During the trial, Professor Patrick Wiyokpigi testified that Bekanwa conspired with his associates to drive elites out of the community.

He claimed to have warned Bekanwa against involving young boys in cult activities. Additionally, Wiyokpigi stated that he had Bekanwa arrested after the latter allegedly sponsored criminals to assassinate him in a hotel near Rumuomasi.
Speaking from the witness box, Wiyokpigi asserted that peace has been restored to Kpean community since the arrest of the accused individuals.
Following the testimony, the trial judge, Justice Chigozi Igwe, adjourned the case until February 26, 2024, for the continuation of cross-examination of prosecution witnesses.
Bekanwa and Barikui-Dele are being tried for the murder of Doctor Lucky Keena and Engineer Deyaa Dunsara in Kpean community.
