
Ogere Muslim Community recently honoured Hon Sunday Nurein Solarin with a Merit Award for his immense contribution to the development of Islam and Muslim society; and to the generality of people in Ogere Remo, Ikenne Local Government area of Ogun State and beyond.
The award ceremony took place at Itabadore, Ogere Remo and was graced by Islamic scholars, community leaders, friends and well wishers who came to felicitate with one of their own. It was an occasion that saw Hon Solarin holding his head high and beaming with smile throughout the event.
Giving the awardee the plaque and medal of honour, Alhaji Musbaudeen Salako, Chief Imam of Ogere, described Solarin as a committed muslim faithful whose antecedents in the community remained a pride to the muslim community. He charged him not to relent in his efforts at further propagating Islam. Solarin in his remark, expressed gratitude for the award and pledged to show more commitment to the development of Islam in Ogere Remo.

Hon Sunday Solarin, an alumnus of Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile Ife and an illustrious son of Ogere Remo, is a Chattered Accountant, lecturer, businessman and politician of repute. He was born in the early 1970s into the Agbejoye Royal Family by Pa Saliu and Mama Alice Solarin. A proud member of Institute of Chattered Accountants of Nigeria, ICAN, Solarin is a lecturer at the Accounting Department, Babcock University and Managing Partner, Master Planner Associates.

As a politician, he has held several political posts among which included PDP Chairman, Ikenne LG, Board Member, Gateway Oil and Gas, Coordinator, Otunba Gbenga Daniel Campaign Office, Abeokuta, Consultant on Budget and Financial matters, IKLG, Supervisor for Education, IKLG and presently, a member of the Ogun State PDP Caretaker Committee.
In 2011, Solarin was one of the candidates for Ogun State House of Assembly, Ikenne State Constituency.
