Ex-Chelsea manager, Jose Mourinho has come out to say that one of his players from the club’s 2004/05 side messaged him to claim they could beat Enzo Maresca’s team now. He recently had his say while speaking to the press, and fans have been reacting.
According to him, when Chelsea played Arsenal few weeks back, an ex-Blues player messaged him to say if he got the 2004-05 team back together now, they would beat Maresca’s current team.
Mourinho added that it only proves his point that the club had a very good team when he was manager.
His words, “One of these players of 2004-05, a few weeks ago, when Chelsea played Arsenal. One of the guys wrote me a message. I won’t tell you who it is, but the guy is now, I say, 45 years old, something like that. All of them are more or less 45. And one of them wrote to me, it was not John or Frank, and told me ‘boss, if you got together the 2004-05 team now and went on a training camp for two weeks, we would beat the current Chelsea team’.
Of course, it was a joke. But this was a message of we were so good, we were so, so strong that 45 years old, we train for two weeks and we beat the current Chelsea team. Between us, we are still a team.”

Bruce Buck, who served as chairman since 2003, was replaced by Boehly, while long-serving club director and de facto sporting director Marina Granovskaia left, as did Petr Čech from the role of technical and performance advisor.
