Generous Celebrities are still responding to the catastrophic Hurricane Harvey, which has left at least nine dead and many more injured across the Gulf Coast of Texas.
Drake, Paul Wall, Slim Thug and others responded to the crisis recently and now, Beyoncé, Chris Brown, DJ Khaled, Nicki Minaj, and Kevin Hart are among those easing the fears the best way they can.
“My heart goes out to my hometown, Houston, and I remain in constant prayer for those affected and for the rescuers who have been so brave and determined to do so much to help,” said Houston native Beyoncé. “I am working closely with my team at BeyGOOD as well as my pastor (Rudy Rasmus at St. John’s in downtown Houston) to implement a plan to help as many as we can.”
After donating $25,000 to the American Red Cross, Hart challenged fellow celebrities to do the same. Many, including Brown, followed his lead and then some. “Kevin Hart, I accept your challenge,” he said. “I’m donating $100,000…I implore and encourage everybody else who can make a change, to please donate and help.”
Shortly thereafter, Hart launched a Hurricane Harvey donation fund through Crowdrise, where he’s already garnered $238,234 in less than 18 hours. He’s also challenged other celebrities, including Minaj to do the same. “I’ll donate 25K for Houston,” she wrote. “Praying for everyone there. Great work @kevinhart4real.”
DJ Khaled also donated $25,000 in response to Hart’s challenge. In a video message featuring his son Asahd, the social media mogul offered words of encouragement as well. “God bless you,” he said. “God is great. You gon’ be okay. You gon’ be great. Matter of fact, we are great and God is the greatest and I’m here to help out.”
