The publisher of Ovation International magazine and chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Dele Momodu, has expressed deep dissatisfaction with the state of affairs within the party, declaring that “his soul has left the PDP.”
Momodu made the remark during an interview on a programme aired by the Broadcasting Corporation of Oyo State (BCOS) on Tuesday.
According to him, the lingering division and internal crises rocking the PDP pose a significant obstacle to the party’s ability to effectively challenge the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 general elections.

“My soul has left the PDP; it’s only my body that remains. If the PDP were united, it could defeat the APC in 2027. But too many forces within and outside are fighting against this,” Momodu lamented.
His comments come against the backdrop of a wave of defections from the PDP to the APC in recent months, which many political observers believe is weakening the opposition’s strength ahead of future polls.
Momodu also accused the ruling party of deliberately engineering strategies aimed at destabilizing the PDP.
“The ruling party’s strategy is to weaken the opposition,” he alleged.
Momodu’s remarks have further fueled speculations about possible high-profile exits from the PDP as the political landscape ahead of the 2027 elections continues to evolve.
